Look - Much of your content is going to come from a 1080 source and the chips & software in the television are going to do a lot of processing. You are NOT going to get ISF/THX certified calibration from these disks, but you can get much better than the factory picture. The calibration disks or the test patterns on some Pixar disks let you compensate for this once you get the unit home. Most televisions are set at the factory to be nearly 100% brightness and contrast to be "eye catching" if the set is used for a floor-display.
